Roanoke Red Cross heads to Houston

Red Cross of Roanoke is sending crew to aid in the recovery of Houston after Hurricane Harvey.

Two of these volunteer crew members are C.D Reavis and Charles Hamblin, this is their first trip together but Hamblin has made nearly 40 trips like this one. "This is my sixth time I've been back to Texas I'm going to the same places that I've been.  I have all my feeding sights and my drop sights still on my computer from the last time I was there."

They will stay in Houston for at least two weeks, delivery meals to people who have been affected by the floods.  Hamblin says Red Cross will serve around 150,000 meals while there.

C.D Reavis is accompanying Hamblin and it's his second trip, he got involved after the floods in West Virginia.  "Last year during the West Virgina floods they were asking for truck drivers or people with experience driving trucks and I've had 25 years training and driving experience so I thought that would be the best thing to do is to offer to work for the Red Cross to help other people."

Red Cross always needs volunteers to help out, to become a volunteer click here.  If you are interested in donating money you can call 1-800-REDCROSS or text HARVEY to 90999 to donate 10 dollars.
