I am honored to be the sports director for WFXR. My passion for sports and love for the outdoors makes Southwest Virginia a perfect place to call home. I got my start in the sports journalism as an undergrad at Baylor University where I was the sports beat writer for the university's newspaper. It was at that time I covered a little known freshman named Robert Griffin III. The rest is Heisman history.

I've bounced all over the place for this career. My first gig after Baylor was in White Plains, New York where I freelanced as a sports writer and photographer for three different publications. Then in 2010, I decided to go back to school where I sought a master's degree in broadcast journalism at Emerson College in Boston, MA. During my education I covered Superbowl XLVI and Boston College sports. My family and I then moved to the Last Frontier--Alaska where I was a news anchor and reporter for KTUU-TV. If you're reading this and thinking "Wow, I've always wanted to go to Alaska", just stop reading and go book your flight now. You won't find a more breathtaking place.....Ok, now that you're back I'll tell you the rest of my story. My work at KTUU gave me the most well rounded experience as a journalist I could have ever asked for. From being dropped off in the middle of the Arctic Circle to cover the largest caribou migration in North America to covering the great mushing race, the Iditarod, it all molded me to who I am today.

Now that I'm here in Virginia I spend my time hiking, hunting and fishing. Sports means more than just athletics to you all here in Southwest Virginia. The outdoor component cannot be ignored and I hope to bring you the full coverage you deserve. If you have a story idea or some cool outdoor pics shoot me an email
