Amber Alert Cancelled for missing 3-year-old boy

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA - UPDATE:

The Amber Alert for the Cayden Thomas Merchant has been cancelled. Merchant has been safely located thanks to tips.

Police are still looking for James Benjamin King.

 

Original Story:

An Amber Alert has been issued for a missing 3-year-old boy who is believed to be in danger.

According to Virginia State Police, 3-year-old Cayden Thomas Merchant is 2 feet in height and weighs 29 lbs with brown eyes and black hair.

Police said he was last seen wearing a white flannel button up shirt with orange and gray stripes.

The child was last seen at 9124 Germont Ave. in North Chesterfield around 6:30 on Monday.

Authorities believe the boy is with 40-year-old James Benjamin King. King was last seen riding in a red 2016 Hyundai Elantra with Virginia license plate XWS-1828.

King is a black male with brown eyes and a short afro, and described as 5'1" and weighs 130 lbs.

He was last seen wearing a Dead Pool insignia t-shirt with light-colored blue jeans.

VSP said they may be headed toward Petersburg.
