Car wash held for Radford High athlete with cancer

Locals in Christiansburg got out the hoses and sponges for a good cause this weekend.

Eric Burdette is a Radford High School football player recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma.

People in his community got together for a car wash Saturday to raise money.

They say they want to help the family with some of their medical expenses.

"Just knowing that we can help alleviate some of the stress that they're having in their life, because they need to be able to focus on getting healthy and not have to worry about that so whatever we can do to alleviate some of that stress, that's what we're here for," said event organizer Heather Pence.

Folks at the event said Eric seems to be doing well so far. They raised more than $2,000 for him at the fundraiser.
