Coyote spotted near Downtown

A wild coyote was spotted near Tazewell Street, close to downtown Roanoke.

The sighting has neighbors on high alert, one of those people is Eleanor Alls who says, "It does make me a little nervous because I don't think they are really supposed to be out during the day so it makes you a little nervous about rabies and things like that when you have little kids".

Coyotes are nocturnal, but seeing a coyote out in daylight shouldn't be too concerning The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries tells WFXR news they do roam around during the day especially if they're out hunting for their pups.

It is extremely rare for a Coyote to attack a human says Wildlife Officials, but it has happened.

If you see a wild animal around your home and believe in may be dangerous to yourself or others and are unsure of what to do, there is a 24 hour animal control number you can call for more assistance at 1-800-237-5712.
