Man arrested on arson charges in Martinsville

A man has been arrested in connection to an arson investigation in Martinsville. 

It happened on May 18 at 10:29 a.m. at a warehouse in the 300 block of Hollie Drive.  

When crews arrived, the fire had already been partially put out and no one was hurt.  

During the investigation, it was determined that Dakota Mohler was suspected as starting the fire.  

He was arrested and taken to the Henry County Jail without bind.   

Mohler was an employee of a temp agency and not an employee of the company.

On May 18, 2017 at approximately 10:29am the Henry County 911 Center received a call for a fire in the warehouse of Radial at 307 Hollie Drive, Martinsville, Virginia.  The Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Public Safety, Collinsville Fire Department, Martinsville Fire Department, Bassett Fire Department and Fieldale-Collinsville Rescue responded to the scene. Upon arrival a single point of origin fire was discovered in the warehouse which had been partially extinguished.  The remaining fire was extinguished by the Collinsville Fire Department.

Through the course of the investigation a suspect was developed as to who started the fire. Dakota Chase Mohler, age 22, has been arrested and charged with 1 felony count of Burning or Destroying a Building.  Mohler is currently being held in the Henry County Jail with no bond.

Mohler was employee of a temporary staffing agency and not an actual employee of Radial.

There were no reported injuries as a result of this incident.
