Man killed in Patrick County crash

A man is dead after a crash in Patrick county. 

The accident happened on November 10th at 10:14 p.m. on Route 57 near Route 846. 

A Chevy Blazer was going west on Route 57 when it ran off the left side of the road, hit an embankment, and overturned.  

The driver, Frederick Wimbush, was not wear a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.  He was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

STUART, Va. – Virginia State Police Senior Trooper A. G. Roberts is investigating a single vehicle fatal crash which occurred on November 10, 2017, at 10:14 p.m. on Route 57 near Route 846 in Patrick County.

A 2002 Chevrolet Blazer was traveling west on Route 57 when the vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and struck an embankment; causing the vehicle to overturn, ejecting the driver.

The driver, Frederick Barry Wimbush, 55, of Stuart, Va. was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he later died from injuries received in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
