Mega Millions and Powerball hike up to over $350 million jackpots this weekend

For the first time ever, both Mega Millions and Powerball have jackpots over $350 million up for grabs this weekend.

Customers came out Friday evening for their last minute lucky chances.

"They'll sit here and just stand in a line just to wait to get their Powerballs or Mega Millions," said Go Mart cashier Sharayah Spears. "They're all for it now and been buying more and more numbers ever since they found out how big it is."

According to the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries, Americans spent more money on lottery tickets last year than movies, books, video games and sports combined.

There could be more than one winner this weekend for either game.

If neither of them have winners, that jackpot will keep climbing.

"You hear people winning it all the time and you're like well what's the chances of it, if you don't play, you're not gonna win," said Roanoke resident Bobby Beche.

Mega Millions will be drawn Friday night at around 11 pm and Powerball will be drawn Saturday night.
