Nasty Women Art Exhibit ends in Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Nasty Women Exhibit features female artists standing up for their equality through art.

All the pieces of art in the exhibit are made by women.

The exhibit was scheduled to run from January 20th to the 30th but was extended because of it's popularity.

There are three interactive pieces including the signing of a constitution, a web of lies where men and women could hang under garments, and also a wall where people write inspiring messages.

Organizers of the exhibit say the amount of public support has been huge.

"The biggest surprise has been seeing a lot of people with families. Small children come in, infants, everyone bringing their family and actually talking to their children about certain art pieces that has been really really encouraging," said Isaac Zralii, Deputy Executive Director, Lynchburg Diversity Center.

"It's not because people haven't had anything to say, it's that people haven't had a space to say it in and now we are having a space for people to come in and say what they need to say and we are saying it's alright, come in here and we want to hear what you have to say, we want to listen," said Andi Miller, Executive Director, Lynchburg Diversity Center.

The Nasty Women Exhibit ends tonight, but organizers of the exhibit say they plan to feature more women's art in the future.

Proceeds from the exhibit will benefit the Lynchburg Diversity Center.
