Newspaper carrier reportedly robbed at gunpoint

DANVILLE, Va. - A newspaper carrier was reportedly robbed at gunpoint on Tuesday morning.

It happened at 3:25 a.m., in the 100 block of Brentwood Drive,

According to Danville Police, "The victim, a newspaper carrier, reported that he was sitting in his parked vehicle when he was approached by a black male asking for a light for his cigarette."

That's when the man reportedly pulled out a handgun and demanded money.

Authorities go on to say, "After the victim gave the suspect a small amount of money, he fled towards Northmont Blvd., in a white Nissan sedan with 30 day temporary tags (tag number unknown)."

The robber is described as a black male in his early to mid 20's, clean shaven, wearing a dark hoodie and ball cap. 

No injuries were reported.
