UPDATE: Man pleads guilty to Roanoke murder

UPDATE (3/13/18) - According to online court records, a Roanoke man has plead guilty to a fatal shooting that happened last year. 

On April 14, 2017, Timothy Duncan was found lying in the middle of the road at the Jamestown Apartment complex. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

Jonathan Gurley pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, as well as gun charges in connection to the case. 

The pleas were entered on Monday, March 12, right before he was supposed to go before a jury. 

Gurley's sentencing is scheduled for June 7.

UPDATE: We now know the name of the man who was killed in a shooting in Roanoke on Friday. 

It happened at 9:44 a.m. in the 1600 block of Queen Ann Drive, Se.s.  

When police got there they found the victim, Timothy Duncan, lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. 

He was taken to the hospital where he died at 10:15 a.m.  

Officers got information about a suspect vehicle and stopped a car matching that description at 12th Street and Dale Avenue at 9:50 a.m.  

The people in the car were taken to the police department and arrested Jonathan Gurley on charges of second degree murder.  

Gurley was one of the people in the car that was stopped.  

He was taken to the Roanoke City Jail. 

A gun was also discovered while the vehicle was stopped.

On April 14, 2017 at 9:44 a.m. Roanoke Police were dispatched to a shooting in the 1600 block of Queen Ann Drive SE. Upon arrival officers found the victim Timothy Mark Duncan, age 32 of Roanoke lying in the street. Duncan sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:15 a.m. Responding officers were provided information about a suspect vehicle and stopped a vehicle matching that description at 12th Street and Dale Avenue at 9:50 a.m. The individuals in the vehicle were all brought to the police department for questioning. After further investigation, detectives charged Jonathan Ryan Gurley, age 33 of Roanoke with second degree murder. Gurley was one of the occupants of the vehicle that was stopped. He was taken to Roanoke City Jail. A firearm was recovered during the stop of the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.
