UPDATE: Deputies searching for wanted man in Southside

UPDATE:  The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office is still looking for Antone Lemont Hamlett. 

On Wednesday, November 15th, someone reported that an unknown man was on their property in North Eastern Pittsylvania County.  

Police searched the area and believe this sighting was consistent with Hamlett.  

Officers are reminding residents to lock their homes, outbuildings, campers, unattended vehicles, any type of structure that could be used as a shelter.

They are also asking hunters in the area to lock their vehicles and not leave any weapons unattended. 

If you see Hamlett, do not approach him, but please call 911.  Up to a $1000 reward is being offered from the Pittsylvania County Crimestoppers for Information leading to Hamlett's arrest and conviction. Call 434-432-7931 or 911.

Today (Thursday) the Pittsylvania County Sheriffs Office continues to attempt to locate Antone Lemont Hamlett. On 15 November 2017, A resident reported to our office an unknown male subject being on their property in North Eastern Pittsylvania County that matched the behavior of Hamlett. Units from Pittsylvania County and Halifax Sheriffs Offices with assistance from Virginia State Police, Danville Police Department, Virginia Department of Game and inland fisheries, all searched the immediate area and believe this sighting was consistent with Hamlett.

Our Office urges residents to secure their homes, outbuildings, campers, unattended vehicles, any type of structure that may provide shelter for Hamlett especially in the North Eastern section of Pittsylvania County.

We also urge those who are hunting wildlife in the area to secure their vehicles and urge hunters not to leave any firearms unattended in their vehicles. 

Our office also reminds the public that anyone who provides any assistance to Hamlett will be prosecuted as the law allows.

The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man in connection to a malicious wounding. 

The crime happened in Halifax County on Tuesday, November 14th. 

Police are looking for Antone Lemont Hamlett.  Hamlett is a person of interest in this crime.  

His vehicle was found abandoned off of U.S. Highway 29, just south of the Gretna exit.  

Police believe Hamlett is on foot and K9 teams are in the area where he was last seen. 

If you have seen this man, or know where he is, please call your local police department.

The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office needs your assistance.  Deputies are conducting a search for Antone Lemont Hamlett.  Hamlett is described as a black male, age 34, weighing approximately 185 pounds and is described as 5’ 11” tall.  Hamlett is a person of interest in a malicious wounding incident that occurred in Halifax County earlier today. 

Hamlett’s vehicle was found abandoned off U.S. Highway 29 this afternoon just south of the Gretna exit.  Authorities  believe Hamlett is on foot.   Police canine teams were called in and are in the immediate area of where Hamlett was last seen.

If anyone should see Hamlett or someone fitting his description, please notify their nearest law enforcement agency.
