Ridgeway man killed in Henry County crash

A man is dead after a crash in Henry County. 

It happened on Saturday, October 21 just after 2:30 p.m. on Route 641 near Route 686.  

A Mini Cooper was going south on Route 641 when it ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, crossed to the left side of the road and hit an embankment. 

The driver, Jeffrey Valentine from Ridgeway, was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.  

It is believed that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

HENRY COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police Trooper M. R. Lovette is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on October 21, 2017 at 2:32 p.m. The crash occurred on Route 641, three tenths of a mile north of Route 686 in Henry County.

A 2008 Mini Cooper 2 was traveling south on Route 641, when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, crossing the road to the left side and striking an embankment.

The driver was identified as Jeffrey Leon Valentine, 60, of Ridgeway, Va. Mr. Valentine was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
