Roanoke church puts out luminaries for Las Vegas victims

Fifty-nine luminaries lit the steps of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church Monday night.

Each one represented a life lost in the Las Vegas massacre.

The church bells also rung out during the memorial before a moment of silence.

The church's reverend says these are all symbols of those who are no longer with us.

"The symbolism of the clock tower and everybody's limited time and  to make the most of it," said Reverend Gary Heaton. "The symbolism of light - a luminary is the light inside of each person and when our light is extinguished it doesn't mean that we're not connected to each other anymore."

The church also said that its doors are open to anyone who needs it during this difficult time.
