Roanoke city council seeks input for manager

ROANOKE CITY, Va. - Roanoke City Council is looking for a new city manager and Monday it asked citizens for input and comments about the open position.

This is the first of several public comment sessions the people who spoke Monday had differing opinions with some wanting a new direction while others want the city to stay on the path current city manager Chris Morrill has put it on.

"I hope that you look for somebody who exhibits qualities of being willing to step in and kind of continue toward the progress that is already being made, not somebody who needs to come in and shake things up or turn us in a different direction," David Aldridge, who lives in Roanoke, said.

Morill's last day on the job will be April 15.

He'll become the new executive director of the Government Finance Officers Association.
