State police investigating fatal crash in Nelson County

NELSON COUNTY, VA - Virginia State Police are investigating a Saturday morning car accident in Nelson County that left one dead and others injured.

According to police, they were responded to a call on Route 29 at the intersection of Route 617 around 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police told WFXR a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica was traveling east on Route 617. That Chrysler collided with a tanker truck after stopping at a stop sign and turning onto Route 29.

78-year-old Frank Lasley of Keswick, VA was driving the Chrysler and taken to UVA Hospital with serious injuries.

His wife, 78-year-old Dolly L. Lasley, who was a passenger in the car was flown to UVA Hospital where she later died.

58-year-old David W. Tregoning of Frederick, MD was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

State police said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
