Hit and Run injures two

A family is looking for answers after a hit and run, George and Mary Cumby were leaving church on October 22 in New London when on 460 West about half a mile east of Bells Mill Road in Bedford County a car hit them from behind.

Both George, 67 and Mary, 65 were taken to the hospital, and now they continue to recover at home.  There two daughters, Linda and Doris are seeking justice for their parents.

Doris Cumby says, "They've torn my parents lives apart, our lives apart, if they can just turn this person in or this person could just turn themselves in we are willing to offer them a reward for any information that leads to an arrest."

The Cumby sisters are grateful that their parents are still alive but their recovery is far from over, telling us their mother is badly bruised and having to walk with the aid of a walker now.

The family did lose their beloved pet, peanut in the accident, which they explain as being like another child to their parents.

"It's breaking our hearts especially my mom and dad, because he lived with my mom and dad most the time, he just loved them, he was like another child;" says daughter Linda.

Eye witnesses to the accident say the driver was driving a burgundy car, and believed to be a white male.  If you have any information please call (800) 542-5959.
