Washington County looking for hiker missing on the Appalachian Trail

Hiker last heard from Thursday

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Va. - Washington County Sheriff's office is asking residents to be on the lookout for a hiker that may need help or is lost.

Officials say Bryan Sederhenn was believed to be on the Appalachian trail near the Lost Mountain or Saunders Shelter.

Last contact from Sederhenn was a text he sent to friends saying he was a mile from the highway (believed to be Route 58).

Sederhenn said he was going to try to make it to the highway and go to Marion to get a package from the post office.

The sheriff's office believes the hiker was not prepared for his journey and may have not had anything to eat or drink for several days.

They are asking anyone who has seen or given a ride to a possible Hispanic male, 5’10” tall with Brown eyes and brown hair in that area to contact them and give them any information you may have at  276-676-6000.
