Record Heat Possible this Weekend

Summer Feel to the Weekend

Sunny and warm conditions take over the area.

We are looking at a quiet start to the weekend but we are dealing with much warmer than normal temperatures.  The normal high temperature for this time of year is generally around 71 degrees in the lower elevations and a bit cooler in the high country, today we are looking at temps in the low 80s east of the Blue Ridge, and the upper 70s in the Highlands.  That is without the humidity.  We may have a bit of a muggy feel to the region today as we head into the last weekend of April.

Saturday will be on the flat out hot side as we are looking at the warmest conditions in the Calendar year 2017 for the Roanoke Valley and most locations.  Highs on Saturday will approach the 90° mark, and if breached will be the first time since September 24th that we have been in the 90s.  Record for the 29th of April at the Airport in Roanoke is 89 set in 1915.

In this type of heat there is always a chance that some of the water we have received will get recycled, in other words we are looking at a chance for some PoP - Up showers in the afternoon as we kick into the weekend.

Sunday will be a bit cooler with highs in the mid 80s ahead of what is expected to be a wet Monday.
