Liberty Flames softball's toughness and grit gets them to NCAA regional tournament

LYNCHBURG, Va. - After winning the Big South tournament, Liberty's softball team will get a shot at the best as they head to South Carolina for the NCAA D1 regional tournament. The Flames went 18-3 in the Big South conference for the regular season and they are currently on a 17 game winning streak. This team is familiar with tough competition. In this regional tournament, The University of South Carolina is the top seed and Liberty has some experience against the Gamecocks as they lost to them earlier in the season. Flames head coach Dot Richardson is excited to see her team compete at the highest level.

"As a coach all you can ask is for your team to get better," Richardson said. "It's a lot of fun to see the athleticism and passion the Lord has given them and a lot of great stuff could happen."

On Friday, the Flames will play Hofstra in Columbia, SC. First pitch is at 5 PM.
