Samantha Waddell teamed up with the WFXR sports department as a reporter and anchor in August 2017.
The Houston native is ecstatic to be in southern Virginia covering the sports and the athletes that make up this community.
Samantha spent the last two years at FOX34 in Lubbock, Texas where she had the opportunity to share young athletes’ stories, along with other news that impacted the community. During her time in Hub City she was also able to make lasting memories with lifelong friends. Those people and opportunities will be something she will cherish forever.
If Samantha isn't out covering a game, you can find this proud University of Oklahoma graduate watching one. In 2014, she graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism with an emphasis in sports.
Though Texas is home, Virginia is close to Samantha’s heart. She frequently visited her younger brother, Brandon, during his time playing baseball for the University of Virginia Cavaliers. Samantha grew up in a baseball-loving family and always enjoys spending time at the ballpark.
As a sports fanatic, Samantha is excited to be given the opportunity to cover high school, college and professional sports. While the matchups and the scores are imperative to the job, Samantha believes it's also important to highlight each athlete for who they are on and off the field.
If you know of a great story or an athlete who should be recognized, shoot her an email or contact her on social media.
