Carilion shares some tips for layering up and battling the cold weather that is expected this week.

With temperatures in the single digits and wind chills below zero, frostbite and other cold weather injuries can set in very quickly. Sarah Beth Dinwiddie is the Trauma Outreach Coordinator and says we should be looking for the "umbles."

Stumbling, mumbling, fumbling, and shaking are all signs that a person is too cold and should warm up immediately. If you ever see a change in the mental state of a cold person you should seek medical help. That is a sign of being an advanced stages of hypothermia.

Hypothermia is a condition where the internal temperature of a person's body drops to a dangerously low level.
