LATEST: Vigil honors victims of fatal shooting

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. - UPDATE (6/13/18) - A vigil to honor Brandon Dekle, Cole Kennedy and Miranda Trump is scheduled for Wednesday night at Bent Mountain Bistro.

According to a post on the Bistro's Facebook page, the three were employees at the restaurant.

The post reads and quote "Words cannot fully express our sadness over losing three members of our Bistro family so tragically. We are devastated as is our entire mountain community."

It goes on to read, "We loved Brandon, Miranda and Cole like they were our own children. They were dependable, hard working young adults who persevered time and time again through hardships in life and at work and maintained their good cheer and kindness towards those around them."

The vigil is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.


UPDATE (6/13/18) - Trevor Charles had a video hearing on Wednesday, June 13 at the Roanoke County General District Court. 

He has been charged in connection to a triple murder on Bent Mountain Road in Roanoke County. 

Charles requested a court-appointed attorney and was appointed Jeffrey Dorsey. 

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for August 1 at 9 a.m. 


UPDATE (6/13/18) - WFXR News has learned that the suspect, Trevor Charles, is due in court Wednesday morning for his arraignment.  

WFXR is sending a reporter to the hearing, and will have more details as soon as they become available. 


UPDATE (6/12/18 8:30 p.m.) -- Roanoke County Police have arrested a man in connection to the triple homicide that happened on Bent Mountain on Tuesday morning.

18-year-old Trevor E. Charles has been arrested and charged with three counts of first degree murder and three counts of the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Charles was remanded into the custody of the Roanoke County/Salem Jail.

Officers have also identified the three victims as 18-year-old Miranda Trump of Roanoke, 20-year-old Brandon Dekle of Bent Mountain, and 21-year-old Cole Kennedy of Bent Mountain.


UPDATE (6/12/2018 12:12 P.M.) -- According to Roanoke County Police, the investigation began Monday afternoon when the father of one the victims started searching for her.

The father found the female victim's car wrecked off an embankment on Honeysuckle Road on Bent Mountain.

When the father saw no signs of his daughter, he called the police.

Several hours later the tip led police to the home in the 9200 block of Bent Mountain Road.

Police entered the building and found the three victims with gunshot wounds.

The relationship of the three victims remains unknown. The female victim has been identified, but police have not released that information yet.

They are still working to identify the two males.

This incident is now being investigated as a homicide, but authorities say there is no threat to the public.


Authorities believe this is not a random act.

Roanoke County police are investigating multiple deaths after three bodies were found at a home on Bent Mountain. 

Investigators started working on the case around 1:00 a.m. Tuesday at the home in the 9200 block of Bent Mountain Road. 

The bodies of two men and one woman were found there with gunshot wounds. 

Right now no one is in custody at this time. 

Police say they are aggressively pursuing leads, and say right now there is no known threat to the public. 

Virginia State Police is assisting in the investigation.
