Police: Man wanted for homicide in Florida arrested in Pulaski

PULASKI, Va. (WFXR News) - The Pulaski Police Department have arrested a man wanted in a homicide case in Florida, who was living in the town.

22-year-old Travis S. Bradley of Cocoa, Florida was arrested Thursday. According to police, they responded to a disturbance call at the Craig Street Apartments. When they arrived, they noticed Bradley matched the description of a wanted man in Florida.

According to police, Bradley initially gave officers false information about his identity.

"Luckily our police was already familiar with the subject and was able to identify him by the pictures that were provided earlier in the day," said Pulaski Police Officer Megan Jennings.

"It's not often that we encounter a murder suspect from another state. We do encounter some wanted fugitives out of other states, but not normally for murder."

Bradley is wanted on the following charges: First-degree murder, attempted robbery with a firearm while inflicting death, second-degree felony murder with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and grand theft.

According to Fox 35 in Orlando, Cocoa Police got a call around 1:30 a.m. in July where they found an apartment building riddled with bullet holes and the victim 19-year-old Jaleen Howard, who died. A neighbor described Howard as someone who always protected his girlfriend and family.

Neighbor Renae Hooks said she heard the cries of grief from her bedroom.

"I can only assume that that was a family member learning that a loved one had passed away so that right there shook me to my core," Hooks said.

According to another Orlando media outlet,  ClickOrlando.com, Howard was a young father who was killed during a home invasion that was allegedly set up by a friend.

Cocoa detectives say on July 19 a friend of the victim was caught on video surveillance going into an apartment 10 minutes before the victim, 19-year-old Jaleen Malik Howard entered his apartment. The friend then comes out and signals to Bradley and two other men to go into the apartment, according to police.

Detectives say a short time after that the video shows the men fleeing from the apartment and Bradley shooting the victim.

According to police, the victim's pregnant girlfriend was at home with their 2-year-old daughter.

Bradley is being held at the New River Regional Jail awaiting extradition to Florida.
