Suspects in custody after shots fired in Roanoke County neighborhood

The Roanoke County Police Department has confirmed that two suspects are in custody following an early morning shooting in a Roanoke neighborhood.

The incident occurred just before 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning. in the 1300 block of Beaumont Road.

"I grew up in this neighborhood and we've never had anything like that," says Hollins resident Thomas Stump.

Stump says he heard gunshots ring out in the neighborhood early Saturday morning. He immediately thought about the safety of his neighbors and family.

"We have a lot of elder folks here, my street especially. And just to be able to look after them and make sure everybody's ok is my number one," says Stump.

Stump says he heard four shots ring out while letting his dogs out in the morning. He posted on social media to see what else he could find out.

"I posted on Facebook and asked for anybody to give me information. So they did confirm that there was a shooting up this way off Beaumont road and I had to keep up with the comments," says Stump.

Police say  the shooting happened just before 4:30 a.m. Saturday and that shots were fired into a residence with people inside.  18-year-old Gage Buster and a second suspect, a minor whose name is being withheld, have been arrested in connection with the shooting.  Buster is facing multiple charges, including shooting into an occupied dwelling, reckless handling of a firearm, and use of a firearm in connection with a felony.

Police say no one was harmed in the incident.

"I just want to make sure my neighborhood is safe. And it worries me that there's stuff going on that doesn't need to be going  on," says Stump.

He and others will be keeping a closer watch on the neighborhood.

Buster is being held without bond. The Roanoke County Police Department has confirmed there were no injuries and says that whether there was an intended target in the shooting is still under investigation.
