ROANOKE, Va. - A recent survey from Bankrate.com shows nearly four in 10 Americans are working another job to bring in extra cash.
Men and millennials are the most likely to work an extra job.
According to the survey, 59-percent of people get a side job to earn more disposable income, while 38-percent say they take on extra work in order to cover ordinary living expenses.
Lynda McNutt Foster says there are a few things you should do before getting a side job. She says to ask yourself the following questions:
- Can you do it or not?
- Should you do it? Life's mostly about energy management.
- How much energy do you have in a day or week?
- Do you have enough energy to stay healthy and sane by taking on more work?
According to Lynda, you should also check with your boss at your full-time gig. She suggests, "Check with your company policy manual. There may be guidelines to follow."
Lynda's final piece of advice was to make sure you're getting paid what you deserve. She suggests you do your research before accepting any pay at a potential job.
